I’m in the Pleasance Dome. It’s quite odd here, but there’s an ok cafe. I’ve got a cup of tea and a berry muffin. The weather’s not very good today. It’s my day off from doing the show and I thought that I might go cycling out of town. But it looks like it’s going to rain, and I haven’t got any weatherproof stuff, so I’ve changed my mind. Not really sure what to do with my day really. I could go for a swim, I guess. Or look round the Museum of Scotland. Haven’t been there yet.

I do feel like the days are starting to blur into each other. The other day, I think it might have been Saturday, no, maybe it was Sunday, I cycled out to Cramond, a really nice part of Edinburgh and which overlooks the Firth of Forth. The barber that I went to the other day had told me to go there. It was lovely, so beautiful and quite peaceful, except for the planes flying into the nearby airport. I walked out on the causeway to Cramond Island and sat over there for ages, thinking about things and taking pictures of the sunset on my new phone.

Yesterday, after I’d done my show, I went out to south Queensferry, which is where the ferry to Fife used to leave from before the road bridge was built. It was great seeing the huge bridges close up, looming over the place. I took loads of pictures, though the phone started beeping. It said that the battery was running low, but I’d only recharged it the day before. Anyway, I decided to continue to Inverkeithing, which would mean cycling over the road bridge. That was really amazing. I kept stopping; looking up at all the engineering and out towards the view. Took me ages to reach the other side.

I’m not sure what I’m doing tonight. A couple of friends are up, so I’ll probably meet up with them. They said they want to go and see Chav, It’s A Musical Innit but I’ve seen it already. I can’t believe we’re nearly halfway through this festival. I really need to do some laundry. I’ve only got one clean t-shirt left and no socks. I think that I do miss being in my own home a bit. Being domestic. I mean, I’ve tried cooking in the flat that I’m staying in but it’s difficult getting to grips with their electric stove. I’m so used to gas.

I guess that I could start having breakfast at home, instead of the local café. I could just get some cornflakes or something. Actually, the Tesco’s on Leith Walk has self service checkouts. I’ve been a few times. It’s so much fun: scanning all the stuff in. I tried to experiment and see what would happen if I didn’t put an item in the plastic bag. And it knew. A woman’s voice started telling me off. ‘Please return item to bagging area’, she said firmly. Amazing Quite looking forward to going back.
